Meet the friendly Village Dental Centre team! We’ve been caring for patients for over 30 years.
Dr. Eugene Dalla Lana
Dr. Dalla Lana grew up in Edmonton in a family of five boys. Dr. Gene, as he’s known to our young patients, studied at the University of Alberta and received a BSc, with distinction, in 1978. He continued his education at the University of Alberta, going on to receive a Doctorate in Dental Surgery in 1982. When he graduated, Dr. Dalla Lana was one of two dentists selected to complete advanced training as a resident at the University of Alberta hospitals.
Dr. Dalla Lana moved to Calgary in 1984 to practice dentistry. After he worked as an associate dentist for two years, he purchased Dr. Anthony Taylor’s existing practice on 11th Avenue. He has moved the practice location twice since then, finally choosing our current location in the heart of the Beltline.
A firm believer in the value of education, Dr. Dalla Lana continually updates his skills with continuing education. He has received specialized training in Botox therapy for head and neck pain and facial aesthetics. He is also very involved in the dental community, and is a member of many local, provincial, national and international dental associations. Dr. Dalla Lana has also been honoured to receive a number of Fellowships by dental organizations worldwide.
Dr. Dalla Lana and his wife, Michelle have two grown sons and two young daughters, who were born in the midst of a massive snowstorm in September 2014.
Front Desk Team
Wanda Office Manager
When you meet Wanda, you’ll feel like family right away. She loves meeting new clients and connecting with the ones she’s known for over 30 years. Wanda went to Holland College in PEI, and graduated with a diploma in dental assisting in 1980. Her first role was as a dental assistant, then she transitioned to reception and office management.
Wanda loves to travel (she took a solo trip to Australia and New Zealand), and she also created a cookbook in memory of her mother, who was an amazing cook.
Shirley Front Desk
Shirley is one of the smiling people you’ll meet at our front desk. She has worked in dentistry since 1976. Shirley is also a pioneer - she was the first female bus driver in Toronto since World War 2. (how cool is that?) She is also an accomplished folk art painter.
Jamaica Front Desk & Dental Assistant
Jamaica loves helping people change their lives and improve their self-esteem through beautiful smiles. That’s why she’s been working in dentistry for over twelve years.
She is also an adventurer, and one of her coolest experiences was caving/spelunking. But you’ll have to ask her more about that when you see her. ;-)
Clinical Team
Kim Registered Dental Assistant
Kim loves seeing people smile, because when they smile with confidence they warm the room. One of the greatest rewards of her job is seeing her patients walk out of the office beaming. With over 26 years’ experience in assisting, Kim brings a wealth of knowledge to her work.
Not being one to shy away from experiences, Kim once went swimming with dangerous stingrays in the Caribbean.
Clare Dental Hygienist
Clare has been practicing as a hygienist for over twenty years, and she has worked in BC and Alberta. She’s certified in local anesthetic and periodontal laser therapies.
Clare lives with her husband, Allan, and their two daughters. She enjoys being outdoors, watching hockey, travelling, and relaxing.
